John Mac was Deng’s older brother, a humanitarian and an activist; a hero by anyone’s measure. In 2014 he lost his life while bravely trying to assist civilians escape attacking rebel forces across the River Nile. In his name, Deng is establishing a charitable foundation to support education and justice in Australia and South Sudan.
